01 / The decisions behind the success

Your practice may be thriving. But your money could be facing challenges you haven’t considered.

You take care of others. Let’s take care of your financial future.

A Medical Professional Corporation can offer planning opportunities. But incorporating is only one step. How you access earnings, protect your income and prepare for retirement deserves equal attention.

01 / Corporate earnings

Your corporate earnings are growing. So are your decisions.

Retained earnings may create opportunities for investment and future planning, but deciding when and how to use those funds can have significant tax and cash-flow implications.

02 / Tax considerations

Your investments may affect your corporate tax position.

Depending on the nature and amount of passive investment income, your corporation’s access to the small-business deduction may be reduced.

03 / Income & continuity

Your practice depends on you. What if you can’t work?

Disability or serious illness can interrupt clinical income while staff salaries, rent, equipment expenses and family obligations continue.

04 / Life after practice

Retirement requires more than accumulating money.

Building corporate wealth is one challenge. Turning it into retirement income, while considering tax, liquidity and estate priorities, is another.

The missing piece may be coordination.

You may have an accountant, an insurance adviser and an investment professional, yet still lack one strategy connecting your practice, personal finances and long-term goals.

Your financial life doesn’t exist in separate compartments. Your practice, corporation, family, retirement and estate are connected. Your financial strategy should be too.

A few questions, answered

Before we talk.

A clearer starting point for your SanteWealth conversation.

What is SanteWealth?

SanteWealth by CenterPointe Financial Center is a coordinated financial planning framework for physicians and healthcare professionals. It connects corporate wealth, practice and income protection, retirement, and estate priorities with input from your tax, legal, investment and insurance professionals.

Do I need to be incorporated to benefit from SanteWealth?

No. SanteWealth also welcomes physicians preparing to incorporate, newcomer physicians and other healthcare professionals whose circumstances are suitable. We can help coordinate conversations about whether incorporation warrants consideration with your legal and tax advisers.

Can passive income affect my medical corporation’s taxes?

Yes. For an otherwise eligible Canadian-controlled private corporation, adjusted aggregate investment income above $50,000 across the corporation and its associated corporations can reduce the federal small-business limit. With a full $500,000 starting limit, the passive-income reduction reaches that full limit at $150,000. A reduced limit is not itself additional tax payable. Your tax professional should assess the applicable rules and your circumstances.

Can SanteWealth help protect my practice if I become disabled?

SanteWealth can help review personal disability coverage and business overhead protection alongside your existing arrangements. Benefits depend on eligibility, underwriting, policy definitions, waiting periods, limits and exclusions. Coverage and payment of a claim are not guaranteed.

Will SanteWealth replace my accountant or lawyer?

No. Your trusted professionals remain part of the conversation. CenterPointe helps coordinate financial planning with your accountant, lawyer and other advisers, who continue to provide advice within their professional roles.

What happens during a Discovery Assessment?

We begin with a confidential conversation about your practice, corporate structure, financial priorities, existing protection and retirement goals.
